Reflection
In this project I had to explore some examples of Adaptive Radiation in the Hawaiian islands. In my case, spiders, in the genus Tetragnatha. These spiders absolutely exploded in number, rapidly filling many ecological niches all over the islands. After gathering some information on these spiders, I had to create a newsletter from the perspective of one of these spiders.
Why I Chose This Assignment
I chose this assignment due to its uniqueness and how much fun I had making the newsletter. This project combined graphic design, biology, and writing to create a very fun end result.
21st Century Skills
This project mainly required Information Skills. I had to browse a wide array of articles to write the newsletter, with the layout of it needing to be designed in a meaningful way.
Current Growth
This project definitely challenged my researching skills as articles on the spiders were very sparse. Even if I had found a good article on the spiders, the article would mainly talk about the spiders as a whole, and not a singular species (The project is supposed to be focused on one species).
Future Growth
In the future, I could improve upon managing my time more wisely as I was cutting it close to the mini deadlines. Another thing I could improve upon is my comprehension. I had to make some last minute changes to my article due to me misreading the instructions.
