Reflection
This midterm was for my ANTH 151 course and went over topics discussed previously, such as the existence and skeletal remains of the early hominins to the remnants of the abandoned pueblos in North America and what those findings revealed about the cultures that once lived there. This assignment addresses Global Awareness skills. Students had to take into account archaeological findings, climate, and overall environment when answering the questions in the midterm as we had to propose a hypothesis and then back it up with the evidence provided in the textbook. I chose this as a work sample because it required a significant amount of research and time which paid off in the end as I got a perfect score on it. This midterm allowed me to revisit old material and understand what I was reading about more in-depth. It helped me create connections between different pieces of archaeological evidence that I wouldn't have thought were related before. If I were to redo this midterm again, I would include more details. While I made up for missing details by writing a lot, I definitely could've improved my arguments for certain hypotheses by doing so. I really enjoyed learning about these different topics as most of them were completely foreign to me. While I did take ANTH 200 in the past, it touched on more recent cultures that have written records, while in this class, we're discussing cultures that are, for the most part, not in written history. I hope to use and build upon this knowledge in the future when I take Anthropology 152.
